Two schools closed due to bees

conduct of some of our school-age children cause for concern.

Dacosta Edwards Primary in St Andrew and Springer Memorial in St Michael will be closed today to allow authorities to tackle increased bee activity around the schools.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Education said a beekeeper will be visiting A. Dacosta Edwards to remove any hives.
With respect to Springer Memorial, the Ministry said a hive on a nearby property is yet to be removed by the occupants and the school was closed to avoid students, teachers and staff being affected by the bees.
The Ministry said a bee keeper explained that the unusually high bee activity has been caused by several factors including recent weather conditions, bees growing out of their hives and their search for food.
