Additionally, members of the public can also be assured that they can continue to safely visit the Burial Ground, which remains a place of significant spiritual practice. Details on access routes, designated parking areas, and other logistical arrangements will be shared in the coming days. Please note, however, that there will be periodic restrictions on both vehicle and pedestrian access to the Burial Ground in order to ensure the public’s safety, and to preserve the integrity of the site while construction activities are underway. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation during these times . All works are scheduled for completion in April 2025, at which point this new memorial will stand as a meaningful contribution to our collective heritage and the legacy of those interred at the Enslaved Burial Ground at Newton Plantation. The BTI thanks you for your patience and support, and we look forward to working with stakeholders and the general public to realise this significant project. (BTI)
