Insurance and financial solutions provider Sagicor made a donation to the island’s largest children’s home, the Nightingale Children’s Village, during the recent Christmas season.

Through the company’s Making A Giant Impact In Children (MAGIC) initiative, more than 100 gifts were donated to the Black Rock, St Michael home. The initiative is a key part of Sagicor’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, aligning with the community development pillar and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The gifts, which were distributed across the home’s five cottages, will benefit children from three months to adults in their 30s.

Cynthia Blackman, manager of customer experience at Sagicor, said the company was delighted to be supporting the children.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to make this donation. We hope the children will truly enjoy the experiences these gifts will bring and that they will contribute to their development,” she said. “We wish them all the very best in 2025 and hope both the children and staff have a wonderful year ahead.”

Jan Jones, House Parent at Shelley’s Cottage, which houses girls between the ages of three and 16, also expressed her gratitude.

“On behalf of the girls and staff at Shelley’s Cottage, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Sagicor for these wonderful gifts, especially the science equipment. I am sure the girls and staff will have a fantastic time experimenting with the new project. We truly appreciate this support and look forward to collaborating with you in 2025 for even bigger and brighter things in the coming year,” she said.

Sagicor’s donation reinforces its ongoing commitment to supporting the development of children and families in the community by making a meaningful difference in their lives.
