High wind advisory in effect for Barbados

Moderate to strong winds are expected to begin to affect Barbados from tomorrow, Tuesday, Feberuary 11th, 2025, therefore, the Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Wind Advisory.
THIS IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL STORM/ HURRICANE

Expect tumbling or rolling of unsecured objects (e.g. inflatable structures, tents and garbage cans).

The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM and GIS websites and their respective social media pages along with the local media networks for further information on what you should do.

Discussion
A strengthening Atlantic High-pressure system is dominant across Barbaods and the region. Moderate to strong winds of 20 to 30 knots (37 to 56 km/h), associated with this feature are forecast to affect the island. Additionally, higher gusts are possible near some showers.

A high-wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 25 to 33 knots (47 to 61km/h) are affecting or forecast to affect the land area within 36 hours. This High-wind Advisory was issued at 6:00pm, Monday, 10th February, 2025 and will be updated/terminated at 6:00pm, Tuesday, 11th February, 2025.
