A St Thomas resident narrowly escaped death as a fire burned his home to the ground on Thursday morning. The blaze, which broke out around 11:15 a.m., ravaged the wood and wall structure at Bridgefield, Barbados Fire Service Station Officer Roger Bourne told Barbados TODAY. “The house was completely destroyed and one lone male occupant suffered some slight burns to both arms, right shoulder, and back of his head,” he said. “The ambulance came for him, but the injuries are not life-threatening. The response [from fire officials] came from the Arch Hall fire station and the Bridgetown Fire Station . . .eight officers responded to the scene.” While a neighbouring property sustained slight damage, no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
