Courtesy Garage Barbados recently introduced to the public its line of hybrid vehicles from Hyundai, at a launch hosted in conjunction with BIBA: The Association for Global Business Networking Mingle.

Financial Controller of Courtesy Garage Barbados, Andrez Greene, introduced the Green Mobility fleet, Hyundai’s new line of stylish, environmentally conscious vehicles whose sleek designs and cutting-edge specs piqued the curiosity of guests in attendance at the launch at Mahogany Ridge on Thursday night.

The full lineup of new energy vehicles includes models of the Ioniq, Kona Sports Utility Vehicle, Santa Fe and Tucson, all engineered to reduce carbon emissions while delivering exceptional performance.

“This is more than a product launch, it is a demonstration of what’s possible when the private sector takes steps to align with the innovation of national development goals,” said BIBA President Marlon Yarde.

Yarde added, “As many of you are aware, the Barbados Energy Transition and Investment Plan was launched last month. It lays out an ambitious framework to achieve our country’s clean energy and net-zero emission goals by 2035.”

The Hyundai brand, sold by Courtesy, plans to roll out 21 electric vehicle (EV) models by 2030. These models will range from budget-friendly options to high-performance and luxury vehicles, aiming to achieve 5.5 million in annual global sales including 2 million EV units.

Scott Bentham, service manager at Courtesy Garage, said Hyundai had a dual focus on performance and sustainability in its hybrid vehicles. “They offer the spaciousness and versatility you would expect from SUVs with a smooth and responsive driving experience, enhanced by an electric motor. Hyundai stands behind the quality of these vehicles with comprehensive warranty coverage.”

Greene said, “This launch marks our latest move into a more sustainable chapter, aligning with Barbados’ vision to become a clean and resilient energy economy and supporting the global push towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Barbados’ Renewable Energy Policy.”

In a move to support consumer adoption of electric vehicles, Courtesy will offer free home installation of chargers for purchasers of an EV.

Greene added, “Our team has undergone specialised training in the EV and hybrid technology, ensuring that you are supported on every step of the way of your journey.” (STT)
