Small craft advisory extended as windy conditions persist

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has extended the small craft advisory for the island as moderate to strong winds continue to impact the marine area.

According to the BMS, wind speeds between 20 and 25 knots are expected throughout Friday and into Saturday morning. It added that these conditions, driven by the Atlantic high-pressure system, may pose difficulties for small vessels, especially in open waters.

While a slight decrease in wind speeds is expected by Saturday, the BMS cautioned that fluctuations over the weekend could still result in occasionally hazardous conditions at sea.

The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. on Saturday unless weather conditions improve sooner.
