PSV associations deny ordering drivers to cut services

Two privately-run public service vehicle associations have denied giving directives for drivers to stop work early or adjust their schedules in response to the recent crime situation.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Association of Public Transport Owners 2023 Inc. and the PSV Workers Association stated that while they are deeply concerned about the situation, they are taking a collaborative approach to the issue.

They acknowledged the efforts of the authorities to address and bring the situation under control and encouraged drivers and conductors to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions while performing their duties.

“APTO wishes to reassure the travelling public of Barbados that consistent service will not be interrupted by our members,” the statement noted.

“We stand in solidarity with the authorities and the community in their efforts to restore safety and security on our island. By working together, we can ensure the well-being of our members, passengers, and the general public.” (PR/BT)
