The Ministry of Transport and Works have confirmed that the $4. million roundabout at the high-risk Windsor–Lower Greys Junction in St George will include significant road realignments and land acquisition to improve visibility and reduce crashes. During a press briefing on Thursday, officials outlined that the project, covering five acres, is set to begin by year-end, once the tender process is wrapped up, and construction is slated to take one year to complete. Deputy Chief Technical Officer Dave Scantlebury said the design, which was created by local firm Caribbean Consultants & Project Management Group, realigns the leg from Boarded Hall nearly 200 metres north to eliminate blind spots caused by bush and sugarcane. “We need a situation where everybody can see the whole junction,” he said. “The amount of land taken is secondary to safety.” Officials noted the roundabout is part of a wider programme targeting dangerous junctions, which has already contributed to a national decline in road fatalities.
