National Stadium Rebuild Advancing Steadily Toward 2027

Work on Barbados’ National Stadium is pushing ahead, with demolition completed and foundation construction now in full swing. Project Manager Bo Xu says the team has moved smoothly into excavation, subbase pouring, rebar tying, and concrete foundation work — the base of what will become a fully modern national facility.

“We are very confident about meeting the 2027 deadline,” Xu said. “The cooperation with local contractors has been excellent and is helping us maintain strong momentum.”

The new stadium will meet World Athletics and FIFA standards, support broadcast-ready events, and create new job and training opportunities for Barbadians. Despite weather challenges, improved drainage and hardened access roads have kept the project on track.
