West Terrace and Eden Lodge advance to semis

Defending champions Williams Industries West Terrace Tigers and Eden Lodge claimed the final two semifinal spots in the National Sports Council City of Bridgetown Co-operative Credit Union Limited Herman Griffith Cricket Competition on Thursday.

 

West Terrace marched to a strong total of 163 for 9 in their allotted 25 overs against Jordans Supermarket Good Shepherd at the Dash Valley playing field.

 

Talented all-rounder Kailen Corbin led the way with 45, while Neymar Forde stroked 28 for the Tigers. Damani Haynes was the leading bowler for Good Shepherd with 4-23.

 

In their response, Good Shepherd were bowled out for 98 as they succumbed to defeat by 68 runs. Corbin once again was the star of the show with 4 wickets for 18 runs with his fast bowling.

 

In the fourth quarterfinal matchup, Gordon Greenidge Primary pulled off a nail-biting victory by 7 runs when they got the better of the Eden Lodge school at Lears playing field.

 

Batting first and struggling at 18 for 6, the Gordon Greenidge team recovered to score 68 all out. Jaheem King was the main destroyer with 6 wickets for 7 runs for Eden Lodge.

 

The bowlers for Gordon Greenidge bowled with confidence as Shomir Worrel grabbed 5 wickets for 27 runs to bowl out the Eden Lodge team for 62 runs and move into the semifinals.

 

The matchups for the semifinals will be St Cyprians Boys vs Williams Industries West Terrace and St Gabriels vs Gordon Greenidge Primary. Both games will be played on Wednesday, December 3 at the Blenheim playing fields, with a start time of 10 a.m.
