22-year-old woman charged with drug trafficking

A 22-year-old woman of Christ Church and St Michael is expected to appear in court today after being charged with multiple drug offences following an operation by the Barbados Police Service Narcotics Unit.

Police said Cherisse Romona Nanton, of Bournes Land, Silver Sands, Christ Church, and Baxters Road, St Michael, was arrested and formally charged in connection with offences allegedly committed on Saturday, December 6.

She is accused of:
-Possession of cannabis
-Trafficking of cannabis
-Intent to supply cannabis
-Importation of cannabis

Police said the suspected cannabis weighed 4.7 kilograms and has an estimated street value of $37,600.

Nanton is appearing in the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court today, December 8.
