Motorists are being advised to expect traffic delays and temporary parking restrictions on Thursday, January 8, during the military funeral of Police Constable Anisè Bourne at the St George Parish Church, The Glebe. Traffic changes will take effect from 11:00 a.m. until the conclusion of the service.

According to the Barbados Police Service, delays are expected between 11:00 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. along Maxwell Main Road, from the Top Rock Roundabout to its junction with Hilton Road. Further delays are anticipated between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. along Charles Rowe Bridge, in the area of Chefette, continuing along Valley Road to its junction with Walkers Road near Glebe Market. Members of the public are encouraged to avoid these areas where possible and to seek alternative routes.

No parking will be permitted on Charles Rowe Bridge, Valley Road and Walkers Road, except for the purpose of picking up or dropping off passengers.

Parking for funeral attendees will be available at the Glebe Playing Field and the St George Parish Church. Police have warned that anyone who contravenes the traffic measures or fails to comply with lawful instructions from officers may face a fine of $500 or up to three months’ imprisonment. The restrictions do not apply to emergency vehicles.

Officers will be deployed throughout the area to assist with traffic management. The Barbados Police Service has thanked the public for its cooperation and apologised for any inconvenience.
