Wilkie Cumberbatch juniors begin new term at Luther Thorne amid campus repairs

More than 120 students from Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary began classes at Luther Thorne Memorial Primary on Tuesday, after being temporarily relocated while repair works continue at their original campus in The Pine.

The children made their way through the gates of the Wildey Road school on Tuesday morning to begin the new Hilary term.

The transition appeared seamless, with students waving goodbye to their parents before entering the school. Parents who spoke with Barbados TODAY generally expressed approval of the temporary move.

One mother of a Class Three student remarked: “It is what it is. The ministry knows what it is doing. They cannot do any better, so we are just thankful that the children can come to school.”

Another parent shared their hope for a quick adjustment: “I just hope that he will not take long to settle because we know it is a transition and children can take long to settle down, but we are hoping for the best.”
