Body found on Worthing beach after reports of gunshots

The body of a man was discovered on Worthing Beach on Friday night after police responded to reports of gunshots in the area.

Police said the Operations Control Room received a report at about 7:37 p.m. of gunshots being heard in the vicinity of the beach. Officers were dispatched to the scene, where they found the body of a male.

Medical assistance was sought, and a doctor later attended the scene, examined the body and pronounced the man dead.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.
