bank makes winner’s olympic dream a reality
CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank has made the dream of attending the London 2012 Olympic Games a reality for one lucky client.
Wayne McDonald Burgess won a coveted pair of return tickets to the United Kingdom in the bank’s just-concluded Go with Visa London 2012 Promotion.
Burgess, a resident of Macaroni Village, St. George, said he was still in a state of shock as he had not even been aware of the promotion, but was now looking forward to making the trip with his wife, Stacey.
“When I put down the phone I couldn’t help wondering if it was a prank call. It hasn’t really sunk in yet as I have never won anything before,” he said.
The winner said he used his Visa Plus card only three times since last renewal but was now looking to utilise an even wider range of CIBC FirstCaribbean services.
“I have been a credit card customer with CIBC FirstCaribbean for over five years and I have never had any problems. The card has always come in handy, especially when I have not had cash on me and I have been quite happy with the service. I hadn’t used it that much recently but now this has happened, I am definitely keeping it and even using more services from the Bank,” Burgess said.
Managing Director of Retail Banking, Rolf Phillips, declared the promotion a complete success for the bank.
“The Go with Visa London 2012 Promotion was a collaborative effort between CIBC FirstCaribbean and Visa, an official sponsor of the Olympic Games, and we are satisfied that we have contributed significantly to the growing anticipation of the Summer Olympic Games among the people of the Caribbean. We wholeheartedly congratulate our enviable winners who will get to experience the Games live in London and wish them a safe journey.”
The grand prize trip is the complete travel package with two return airline tickets, airport meet-and-greet, as well as four-star hotel accommodation. Winners will also receive tickets to select Olympics events, daily breakfast, prepaid mobile airtime, sight-seeing tours and transportation to and from scheduled events.
The promotion also produced two other grand prize winners, Norine A Riddock-Porter in Jamaica and Andra Kutner in The Bahamas. There were also numerous monthly winners of a 32-inch flat screen LCD TV and tablets computers throughout the campaign.
