Yabba Dabba Doo is what more than 170 people will be shouting as they jump from Carlisle Car Park to Spring Garden Highway next weekend.
Calvin Noel, one of three leaders of the ForeDay Mornin’ Element X Band said he wanted to do something completely different and came up with The Flintstones: Party In Bedrock.
“I figured I would pick a theme that people around my age would be familiar with and would be easy to recognise and that’s the one that came to me, The Flinstones,” he told Barbados TODAY.
He said that he, his brother Ryan Andrew and another guy made up the group Element X.
There are six costumes – Wilma and Fred Flinstones, Betty and Barney Rubble, Pebbles and Bam Bam.
“It’s gaining momentum. [The costumes] are our take on what it would be like if they were Barbadian. Some of the costumes come with earring and bangles and the bones I made, they are made from styrofoam, attached to a hair piece and the ones on Bam Bam are attached to an oversized safety pin. The colours are the original colours from The Flinstones,” he said.
Noel said that revellers have a chance to win prizes for modifying their costumes, which the crowd would approved. The packages include breakfast and a photographer and there would be a thank you lime after the event at Copa Cabana, where they held their fund raising limes.
The band leader also said that people were returning their registration forms slowly and they could not take an influx of people signing up next week.
The band house is located in Carlisle House, the City and costumes can be viewed at www.elementxcentral.com.
