The brilliant sunshine made for a picture perfect day yesterday as thousands of people opted to spend Mother’s Day outdoors.
It was the Barbados Transport Board’s annual Mother’s Day Scenic Ride and almost 2,000 women, men, and children boarded 49 buses for day of relaxation and fun at Three Hoses Park in St. Philip where the picnickers stopped for about 20 minutes before heading to River Bay in St. Lucy.
In addition to the food and fun, there were games such as tombola, strawberry distort, product giveaways and lucky seats where envelopes were placed under particular seats in the bus and the passenger claimed the prize.
Prizes were also given to people who booked buses.
And of course there was karaoke, provided by DJ Elton Grosvenor, which six people entered.
First prize went to Kimberly Farrell, second prize went to Nikita Harper, Amanda Mascoll was third, Kathy Ann Jones was fourth and Keisha Charlemangne was fifth.
The participants won a range of prizes that included baskets compliments Hotel Food Supplies, vouchers for hair services compliments Styles in Motions and Options Hair Salon, scenic ride tickets and clutch bags donated by Cave Shepherd.
There will be a scenic ride for Father’s Day.
The team from the Transport Board’s Marketing Department, Aisha Skeete, Orville Rowe, Karryn Brathwaite, Gloria Quintyne, Carla Phillips and Henderson Brathwaite were on hand to make sure the activities ran smoothly. (DS)
