Lawrence T. Gay and Blackman & Gollop played unbeaten as the second round of the Pine Hill Dairy-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Netball Tournament got underway at the Netball Stadium today.
Lawrence T. Gay first came up against Good Shepherd who were the last to qualify from the first round and blanked them 7-0 with Rannisha Prescod scoring the seven goals from 13 attempts.
The Spooners Hill, St. Michael school then made light work of Chalky Mount Primary, defeating them 9-2 with Prescod again showing her shooting promise with seven goals from 12 attempts. Shakeena Gilkes netted two goals from five attempts. Asha Yearwood had the two goals from three attempts for Chalky Mount.
Blackman & Gollop also defeated Chalky Mount, 7-2, with Reanna Woodroffe having six goals from seven attempts and Donna Coombs, one from four attempts. Denica Scott and Asha Yearwood had a goal apiece for their school.
Blackman & Gollop were even more dominant against Ellerton Primary, winning 10-1. Deanna Ramsay had four goals from six attempts, while Woodroffe chipped in with three goals from six attempts. Shonica Griffith had two goals from six attempts and Coombs netted her only attempt. Shanika Phillips took two shots for Ellerton and netted one of them. In the match-up between the two losing teams, Ellerton emerged with bragging rights when they beat Good Shepherd 4-0. Zakana Sergeant had three goals from six attempts, while Phillips netted one goal from her two attempts.
