DELHI — India’s cricket board of control has called an emergency meeting next Monday to discuss the course of action to be taken against Raj Kundra, Rajasthan Royal’s owner, over his betting confession.
Kundra has admitted placing bets over the last three years on his own team.
Addressing a press conference, the BCCI Working Group’s chief, Jagmohan Dalmiya, said the entire issue of Raj Kundra’s alleged involvement in betting will come up for discussion at the meeting.
“Raj Kundra issue will be discussed in the Working Committee, which is going to be held on June 10 and after we hear the details, if it demands any strict action, we will look into it,” Dalmiya said.
Dalmiya also announced that Sanjay Patel of the Baroda Cricket Association would replace Sanjay Jagdale as the new BCCI secretary after the latter resigned last week in the midst of the current crisis spawned by spot-fixing and illegal betting in the Indian Premier League.
