St. Martin’s Mangrove Primary have joined Blackman & Gollop Primary, Belmont Primary and Boscobel Primary in the semi-finals of the Pine Hill Dairy-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Netball Tournament.
Today at the Netball Stadium St. Martin’s Mangrove registered an 8-0 victory over St. Mary’s and an 8-1 win over Bay Primary as all the round 2 matches in the competition were concluded.
Against St. Mary’s, Brianna Harvey scored five goals from eight attempts, while Britney Herbert was a perfect three from three. The two were in good touch again against Bay Primary with Herbert accounting for five goals from nine attempts and Harvey, three goals from four attempts.
In one of the more exciting matches this morning Half Moon Fort and West Terrace battled to a 7-7 draw. Half Moon Fort’s Skye Skeete was in excellent shooting form with six goals from seven attempts while her team-mate Thealla Armstrong scored her only attempt. For West Terrace Jewel Maynard had three goals from six attempts while the athletic Lelani Haddock had four goals from five attempts.
West Terrace then demolished Bay Primary 7-2 with Haddock netting six goals from eight attempts and Maynard, a bit off her mark, scoring just one of her five attempts. Jewel Wills and Brittany Wallace scored a goal apiece.
St. Mary’s got their first goals of the morning against Half Moon Fort but still went down 6-3. Skeete and Armstrong led Half Moon Fort to victory with three goals each from six and three attempts respectively.
St. Martin’s Mangrove will now play Blackman & Gollop in one semi-final, while Belmont take on Boscobel in the second semi-final, both to be played at the Netball Stadium on June 20. The action starts at 10 a.m.
