Graydon Sealy and Lester Vaughan will contest the final of the Co-operators General Insurance-sponsored Under-16 Secondary Schools Basketball Tournament.
This evening at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in semi-finals action Graydon Sealy defeated Queen’s College 73-61 in the first game, while in the second encounter Lester Vaughan got the better of Foundation 61-51.
In the first game Graydon Sealy’s top players Andrew Ifill and Shaquan led the attack with Amal Smith providing a strong defensive presence in the paint for the winners. Ifill was in scorching form scoring a game-high 34 points while Newton had 26.
For Queen’s College Kieron Savoury scored 22 points while Makaari Jones had 16 and Nykell Wilson netted 13.
In the second semi-final Brandon Hope, who has been Lester Vaughan’s go-to player from the start of the season, led all scorers with 29 points and got able assistance from Brett Williams who netted 13 points and Kelvin Marcus who scored 10.
For Foundation Tre Bartlett had 17 points, Mikkail Brathwaite 11 and Nathaniel Waithe had 10.
The final is slated for Thursday at the Wildey Gymnasium at 3 p.m.
