Persons visiting this weekend’s Barbados Manufacturers Exhibition can look forward to something very special from Digicel.
This is because the telecommunications company will be showcasing a very innovative and affordable product aimed at utilising mobile technology to meet the security needs of all Barbadians.
Digicel will be introducing a new GSM Alarm product, providing customers with the opportunity to protect what matters most to them, their home, from anywhere and at anytime, right from their mobile phone.
Head of Business Solutions with Digicel, Tim Maher, described the product as a form of alarm monitoring that uses the GSM telephony networks for communication.
“It’s an easy to install, use and maintain, alert system which can provide peace of mind and security without the need for an expensive monitored security contract. It is a completely wireless solution, therefore removing the need for expensive and labour intensive wiring installation. This service allows customers to receive notification phone calls and SMS alerts based on triggers from the alarm system.”
Maher went on to explain that the alarm panel works wirelessly with the remote sensors and utilizes the Digicel GSM Network to send alert notifications to up to eight predefined numbers. Commercial Director of Digicel (Barbados) Limited, Alex Tasker, pointed to the unique opportunity BMEX provides companies in Barbados.
“For Digicel our involvement in BMEX goes beyond us promoting what we as a company have to offer,” he said. “As a company which is committed to assisting with Barbados’ development, we see our support of this exhibition as part of our efforts to assist with the growth and development of businesses, particularly at the medium, small and micro levels.
“At no other point throughout the year will these companies have the chance to interface with so many potential customers within such a short period of time. BMEX has definitely provided a wonderful opportunity for Barbados’ commercial entities, regardless of size, to showcase what they have to offer and we are happy to lend our support each and every year.”
A sponsor of BMEX since 2004, Digicel will also be showcasing a number of other products and services over the four day period, including home broadband Internet, Avaya IP Office Solutions and various handsets, the latter of which will be available to patrons at a range of special offers.
