Pan weekend has become one of those things to look forward to on the Crop-Over calendar and this year was no different.
Beginning with Pan Fusion at Ilaro Court on July 11, then making the smooth transition into Pan In De City and Cruise on July 12 and ending with the biggest event, Pan Pun De Sand on July 13, this year saw one major change — the cruise and pan in Speightstown.
While the Trinidad and Tobago National Steel Orchestra, along with Andre Forde and Len Boogsie Sharpe led the cast for Pan Fusion, and a beyond bumper crowd flocked to Brandon’s Beach for Pan Pun De Sand, this year gave patrons the opportunity to sail down the West Coast to Speightstown on a barge filled with pan players and pan music. Then once the vessel docked, it was an evening of pan at the seaside Esplanade in the north, unlike anything that had been seen before. (LB)
