It was an adrenaline-filled thrill ride as Top Gear Festival 2014 came to a close today.
The atmosphere at the Bushy Park Circuit, St. Philip was electric as fans witnessed an action packed Red Bull Global RallyCross Final, the marquee event of the day.
Fan favourite Ken Block had an unfortunate, spectacular crash, but was thankfully unhurt.
His car was unfortunately in no condition to complete the race.
After the dust cleared, the race restarted and Scott Speed in the Andretti VW Polo racer emerged the winner followed by Steve Arpin with Brian Deegan in third.
The car football event was another big highlight, with Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May representing England, while F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, former Top Gear host Tiff Needell and The Stig were representing Barbados once again today.
Just as happened yesterday, team Barbados emerged the victors in the game, this time winning 6-3, much to the delight of the thousands of fans.
The ultimate supercar showdown was another event that had the enormous crowd, noticeably larger than yesterday, on their feet.
Hamilton crossed the finish line first in his Mercedes Formula 1 machine, although the other competitors had a huge head start.
Today’s star in a car was soca queen Alison Hinds.
Hinds was driven twice around the Circuit in a Jaguar while being asked trivia questions.
Her loud screams and shouts of “Oh my God!” brought lots of laughter from the crowd. As people left the facility, they could be heard saying, “I cannot wait until next year!” or “Next year can’t miss me!”, a sure sign that this two-day event was a definite success.
