A police officer who allegedly demanded money from a man to drop two traffic cases, was released on $5,000 bail when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court charged with abuse of public office.
Constable Renair Jemmott, 28, of Green Hill, St Michael, will have to report to the District “A” Police Station once a week as a condition of his bail.
He returns to court on January 27 next year.
Jemmott was arrested yesterday when police carried out an operation at Queen’s Park.
According to police public relations officer Inspector David Welch, the constable was allegedly making arrangements to collect money he demanded from a man for the discontinuation of the traffic cases.
