Prominent hotelier Alvin Jemmott is tipped to head the recently formed Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI).
Barbados TODAY has learned that the 32-year hospitality industry veteran is likely to take up the post of chairman shortly, although a date has not been announced.
Jemmott declined comment when contacted.
The BTMI, which is responsible for all destination marketing, is one of two agencies that emerged out of the now defunct Barbados Tourism Authority. The other agency is the Barbados Tourism Product Authority.
Jemmott currently serves as general manager of the Divi Southwinds Beach Resort, a position he has held since November 1, 2006.
He is a former group director of sales for the Palm Beach Group, which included three properties on Barbados’ south coast; general manager at the Amaryllis Beach Resort and director of sales for the former Sam Lord’s Castle Resort.
The hotelier holds a Master of Science Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Revans University and a Fellow of International Management Centres Association.
