PORT OF SPAIN – Kidnap victim Rajendra Bisram returned to his family this morning after escaping his kidnappers.
Bisram, 43, a hardware owner, of Maraj Trace, Cap de Ville, walked into the Point Fortin Police Station at around 4 a.m.
Bisram, police said, told them he escaped from his kidnappers who had kept him in a bushy area near Salazar Trace, Point Fortin.
He told police he ran until he met a passerby who telephoned Bisram’s family.
Police officers took the business man to the Point Fortin Area hospital where he was treated for bruises consistent with a beating.
Bisram was a construction contractor for many years, before he opened the hardware over two years ago.
On Wednesday at around 10:10 p.m.,
Bisram was in his hardware store supervising electrical work with three other persons
when four masked men with guns entered the business place.
Bisram was bundled into his Toyota Vigo and the others were tied up and locked in a store room.
Police said there has not been any call for ransom by the kidnappers.
An All-Points Bulletin has been issued for the vehicle, registration TCT-982.
