Combermere continued their winning ways today when they held off Queen’s College 47-40 in the National Sports Council’s Massy United Insurance-sponsored Secondary Schools Basketball Competition.
Playing at Waterford, Combermere carried the game to Queen’s College from the opening whistle with their star players Kadeem Brathwaite and Christopher Collymore leading their offensive charge with 14 points each. Queen’s College remained in the game for large portions of the encounter but were never able to get sufficient defensive stops to break their hosts momentum.
Joshua Austin chipped in with eight points for Combermere.
Frederick Smith had an emphatic victory today when they hammered Darryl Jordan 61-31 at their Nesfield, St Lucy home court.
Khamal Boyce top scored with 25 points and Delan Vullie was not far behind with 24 as they tormented their fellow northerners whose offensive game never really got going.
Rasheed Maynard with ten points was Darryl Jordan’s main, if not only, offensive threat.
