Kirby’s big splash

The St Michael School had its annual swimming championship at the Aquatic Centre, Wildey, St Michael today.

There were lots of exciting performances especially from the male competitors and among these were national junior swimmers Jack Kirby of Anne Yellow House and Jonathan Manning of Elizabeth Purple House.

Kirby from the start of competition lived up to expectations in the 13 to 14 age group, winning the 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 100m individual medley.

Manning, competing in the age 15 and over group, won the 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 100m individual medley.

Other outstanding performances came in the boys 12 and under category with Taj Gustone winning the 50m butterfly and backstroke respectively. Nathan James had a comfortable win in the boys’ 50m breaststroke.
