Renowned Barbadian poet Kamau Brathwaite is the 2015 recipient of the Poetry Society of America’s highest award – the Frost Medal, presented annually for distinguished lifetime achievement in poetry.

The 84-year-old literary giant will be honoured at the society’s 2015 Annual Awards on April 16.
Brathwaite is the author of numerous books of poetry including Elegguas, Born to Slow Horses, Ancestors Words, Need Love Too, Black + Blues, Roots and Trenchtown Rock, among others.
He also taught at Harvard University, and New York University, the University of the West Indies, and served in Ghana’s Ministry of Education.
