The students of the Blackman Gollop Primary School are hosting their very own calypso competition once again. This year, the contest will feature eight girls and three boys, and comes off on Saturday, March 21, at the school.
The competition, which began last year, was the brainchild of senior teacher Mrs Sealy, who is also the coordinator for this year’s event.
The winner of the junior category last year went on to be a reserve in the National Cultural Foundation’s Junior Monarch Finals, and the winner of the infant category was a featured guest because she was to young to compete in the national show.
This year the school competition promises to be bigger and better.
Showtime is 4 p.m.
Those competing are Markaila Walcott, Romancia Wiltshire, Summa Sargeant, Gabriel Waithe, Asha Holder, Emmanuel Sealey, Kayla Payne, Danesha Davis, Emari Browne, Nazia Pierre and Keiasha Yearwood.
