Home / Local News / Missing teen found safe
The 16-year-old girl from Alexandra, St Lucy who was reported missing has been found.
Police indicated in a short statement issued this afternoon that Sherica Donique Hinds had been traced and was safe.
She had left home on Thursday morning.
when they find these missing persons they should say where because if their are going willingly its just a waste of the police and the public time
I was now saying the same thing
Unless you have actively gone searching, your time has hardly been wasted. The police’s I can understand but not John Q public’s. Unless of course, your resharing the article constitutes time wasted…then well…ye. Telling the public where the missing person was or if they were even ever really missing also doesn’t get anyone their time back. People just want to know out of curiosity. Knowing where the person was doesn’t help anyone.
I would not even reply
Good news ..
these parents over-reacting and reporting every child missing just for coming home too late, now when a child really in need of help, nobody ain’t going take it seriously
Exactly, this is what my major concern is.
When these people go missing and found to have cause unwanted frustration they should be FINED or something … them and the person who may have habour them if proven …… need tos end a msg to these people cause when there is a geninue case of missing, lost etc…… no one will be interested.
If it weren’t for Amber Alert posting all these useless posts without any concrete information of someone who is in no danger then we would not be have this problem. It has been my concern for quite sometime now that a life will be lost on account of the unprofessional misconduct of who ever is operating the Amber Alert system.
MAN WHEN WE WILL CHARGE THESE SO CALLED MISSING PEOPLE?
Ya hear the ppl dem say its not our business how and where they are found?? Last year a woman on here tell me off and allow me to know that I malicious and just want to know the ppl business and to shut up because even if they report where these lil girls run off to I won’t be helping the situation. Since then I don’t bother myself when I see the reports on my news feed. I just read the comments.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I will try to add some light to your comment. U really do not see how we would gain from knowing where a person was located. However I must admit with the ongoing false alarms I can now understand those who are curious in wanting to know. Perhaps some of us are becoming interested in knowing how urgent Amber Alerts are when issued and are therefore questioning the validity of the system in regards to how it is helping and whether or not it has saved/rescued anyone anyone. All it looks like right now is it has worked to inform people they are being looked for, which is not an efficient use of an Amber Alert.
Correction.. I really do not see…
And as I said.. I really can’t be bothered anymore. seeing as to how its not my business…
I do hope someday there will be a trustworthy system in place for legitimate cases and at that time you feel the need to be concerned.
@marialeclaire Just for clarification…no one is questioning the seriousness of an amber alert or a missing person report. What ppl are questioning the fact that there is nothing being done about the young underage girls leaving home to go at a man/friend house for any amount of time without their parents approval/knowledge…then the parent get worried and contacts police who then engage the public, then turn around and say ITS NOT YOUR BUSINESS. consider the fact that it is sometimes John Public who tips off the police about where these children are. It is John Public that is asked to be on the look out. It is John Public being asked to have a heart and report any information. So for it to be said its not our business is like asking for help then spitting in our face. That’s just my opinion, but whatever…
For your information I have not told you Nikki, it was none of your business. Let’s get that clear.
I know its not you that said it… I’m just saying…
No problem Nikki…:-)
The situations you have given is not a cause for Amber Alert to be involved. So there should be a concern false alarms are issued before someone does need to be taken seriously and needs help.
Personally I do not believe it should be any concern of the public to know exactly where a person has been located. In my opinion the Amber Alert misuse of a system which was implemented to save lives and is being used with no just cause (no evidence to justify a person is missing/in danger) should be held responsible for all these false alarms. As far as people not being where they are suppose to be or expected to be, that is a totally different issue. If alerts were used correctly in emergencies when needed, these people would have left done there own thing and returned home in their own time without the publicity. Amber Alert is doing what anyone else is capable of doing and that is to post a notification for a person to go home or call home.
Was she missing or parents just didn’t know where she was? Hmmm
It’s reported “she was found safe” and no other information was given in regards to any criminal activity, such as abduction, foul play etc. With no charges being laid against anyone is also a clear indication her parents etc. just did not know where she was.
Maria leclair I love that abduction?? Lmaoooi
Hasani, I would expect any good parent to report his or her child missing, if he or she deviates from his or her usual routine. Some have claimed that this is a senseless waste of police resources, but this is what the police are being paid to do. I would prefer the police to respond a hundred times to reports of this nature, than to have the blood of one innocent child on their collective- conscience.
I do agree to a certain extent, however until the police have established evidence a person has been abducted, (held against their will) may be in danger, or criminal a criminal act has taken place an Amber Alert should not be issued.
Teens who take off to go party, do their own thing are less likely to be the ones who meet foul play. unless they are involved in drugs and prostitution and internet luring.
So if a parent goes to the police station and makes out a report regarding a child who has been missing for let’s say 12 hours, should that parent then have to wait until the police establishes that there is enough evidence to support that fact his or her child is missing, before starting the search? That doesn’t make any sense to me.
I think that I ought to remind you that we’re living in the era where there is such a thing sex registry list.
that is why when they leave the house they need to say where they are going kids these days have no respect for their parents
Does B’os have a sex registry list?
The police should be responsible for assessing the situation by gathering all information such as, were all friends and family contacted, last whereabouts, the mental condition at the time the person was last seen, is the person suicidal, is the person a known runaway. Many things are investigated and taken into account before an Amber Alarm can be issued. The reason for an intensive police investigation is to make sure a false amber alert is not issued. This is to protect the Amber Alert from improper use so as to not create unnecessary false alarms. By this do diligence, when a person goes missing it is taken with utmost seriousness in order to provide quick, efficient help to victims when needed in dangerous situations.
I’m so tired of the press alarming everyone when these callous teens go about their business and are reported “missing” only to turn some time later when they’re good and ready to be found. Save the law enforcement the resources, save your families the grief, save the public the unecessary scare that there may be an abductor on the loose and call your parents and tell them.straight up “hey I’m with my boyfriend (girlfriend or whomever) and I won’t be back for two to three weeks. Just do that for us and keep it a family matter while the rest of us don’t have to feel like we need to be on the lookout for your sorry a$$es.
Why are the parents teaching their children to report where they will be going and when them arrive.. STOP THE MADNESS
