Over 300 Canadians arrived here on Saturday for the 30th edition of the CHUM FM Breakfast in Barbados promotion.
The enthusiastic visitors were greeted by pulsating tuk band rhythms and stilt walkers, allowing them to sample the experience that awaits them during the April 11 – 18 week of activities on the island.
BTMI Director, Canada, Peter Mayers, who was on hand to welcome the visitors, said Barbados continues to enjoy a high repeat visitor rate in the Canadian market but added there was room for growth among next-generation travellers.
“This is the thirtieth edition of Breakfast in Barbados and we’re absolutely thrilled to have reached this significant milestone. It speaks to the strength of our partnership with CHUM and their confidence in the Barbados brand in the Canadian market. As we look to the next 30 years, we plan to make greater use of the digital technologies and other appropriate platforms to ensure that we increase our market share among younger Canadian travellers.”
The BTMI executive added that the daily prime time broadcasts to million of listeners in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa, was a major opportunity to promote the Brilliant Barbados spring/ fall promotion.
When they are not soaking up the sun, sea and sand, the CHUM guests will be participating in a number of ground activities, including land and sea tours, visits to attractions and dinners. They are also expected to take advantage of discounted car rental rates.
The big CHUM FM Concert featuring award-winning pop-rock band, One Republic, and up-and-coming Canadian singer/ songwriter, Andee, will be held at Holder’s House on April 16. The Bajan Band Bash on Monday, April 13 at Harbour Lights, featuring Malasa and Jenn & One Sixty Six, will reveal which local band will have the chance to open for these international acts. (PR)
