St Leonard’s Boys are through to the quarter-finals of the Sir Everton Weekes Under-13 Competition after they defeated hosts Queen’s College by 15 runs at Husbands, St James today.
Queen’s College were given 137 to win from 30 overs after St Leonard’s won the toss, elected to bat and made 136 for 8. In response the lads from Queen’s College were bowled out for 121 in 27 overs.
St Leonard’s batting efforts were led by Rashon Worrell who made 35, along with all-rounder Rivaldo Clarke and Shaquane Phillips who made 25 and 20 respectively. Kemar Jordan was the pick of the Queen’s College bowling attack with two wickets for 25 runs.
When Queen’s College batted Brandon Harrison top scored with 36 while Nicholas Grimes made 25. Jazz Griffith chipped in with 13. The wickets were shared evenly among St Leonard’s bowlers with Phillips grabbing two wickets for 14 runs off six overs.
Clarke also took two wickets but was expensive conceding 43 runs from his allotted seven overs. Coshon Scott with his off-breaks had two for 13 from four overs, while Tremaine Dowrich took two for 31 from three overs with one maiden.
St Leonard’s will face Christ Church Foundation on Wednesday in the quarter-finals.
