Orgainsers of the Limacol Caribbean Premier League expect this year’s tournament to be the biggest thus far.
At a media link-up today at Kensington Oval, CPL chairman Damien O’Donohoe enthused about the cricket extravaganza which gets started on June 20 and runs until the final on July 26. He said it was anticipated that the CPL semifinals and final would attract sell-out crowds.
“CPL is always the hottest ticket in town. We know that all three games will be a sell out at the Queen’s Park Oval, so I urge fans to book early to avoid disappointment.
“We can’t wait to see who will be battling it out in the finals in front of what is bound to be a fantastic crowd at one of the Caribbean’s most iconic venues,” he said.
He said last year’s tournament attracted a global audience in excess of 65 million and this year it is set to be even higher as fans across the world continue to be drawn to the high quality action on the pitch and the unique party atmosphere off it.
The CPL also announced today that the box office opening dates for Barbados, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis would be on May 27, with Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago to follow on June 15 and Jamaica on June 18.
Special discount packages for the semi-finals and final will also be available for the first 48 hours on the CPL website, where fans can also buy tickets to all group stage matches, and find out about further flash sales and great value deals.
Among the international stars who will feature at this year’s CPL are Kevin Pietersen, Jacques Kallis, Shahid Afridi and Mahela Jayawardena.
