Gold bangle lands man before the court

Johnathan Ricardo Joshua Layne, of Grazettes New Road, St Michael, went before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today charged with an indictable offence.

Layne was not required to plead to making a false statement that he was authorized to sell precious metals – a gold bangle – on January 24 last year.

The 20-year-old man, who is unemployed, was unrepresented.

Magistrate Douglas Frederick read the charges to the accused man, who was granted $3 000 bail and had his case adjourned until August 10.

  • I think so much need to be change, if people in Barbados want to be criminals, make them pay, in this case , he should be made to pay a third of the bond in cash to the courts. which would be return to him or the person who assured the bail , if he was found not guilty, but if guilty he/they loose the money.
