Combermere U13 champions

Nicholls Baking Combermere beat The Alleyne School by 44 runs to capture the 2015 BCA Sir Everton Weekes Under-13 title at Kensington Oval today.

Chasing 122 in 35 overs to win in their first ever final, Alleyne were bowled out for 77 in 29.5 overs. Hakeem Towler (17 not out) and Ramon Simmonds (14) were the only batsmen to reach double-figures.

Jemel Miller was the main wrecker for Combermere with four for 13, which earned him the Player-of-the-Match award, while fellow off-spinner Nathan Goddard-McCarthy took three for ten –– both off ten overs with the latter sending down four maidens.

When Combermere batted earlier they were bowled out for 121 in 34.5 overs after being sent in. Kai Rollins, batting at number five, top-scored with 33. There were two wickets each for pacer Simmonds, leg-spinner D’Angelo Springer and medium-pacer Alex Sealy for 16, 17 and 26 runs respectively.

It was the 12th final in the 20-year Championship for the Waterford-based Combermere, who have won the title a record eight times, while Alleyne were appearing in the final for the first time.
