The matter concluded before Magistrate Douglas Frederick last Friday, after Babb had pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman earlier in the week.
Babb, a 35-year-old driver who lives at Dobson Land Black Rock, St Michael.
When the matter first came before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court, acting Station Sergeant Neville Watson said the woman ended the relationship between herself and Babb and told the father he could continue seeing the child he had with her.
On May 26, while she and the baby were at a bus stop, Babb attempted to take the child from the stroller but the woman blocked him. Babb then pushed the woman to the ground where she hit and bruised the left side of her face.
Other persons at the bus stop intervened, held on to Babb and the police were called.
Giving his version of what transpired, Babb told the court that he was just playing with the child in the stroller when the mother objected.
Meanwhile, when Magistrate Frederick questioned her about her health, the victim said that part of her face still hurts and she was having headaches since the incident.
Babb has four months in which to compensate Tanya Best for the injuries she suffered. Failing to do so, he will have to spend four months in jail.
