Customers collecting barrels and personal effects should process their delivery documentation online before coming to the Bridgetown Port.

Alternatively, facilities are now in place for them to do so using the computerized facility in the Customer Information Booth at the Cargo Gate.

This enhanced service was revealed by the Management Information Systems Manager at Barbados Port Inc Karl Branch, who urged customers to make full use of the online facility at www.barbadosport.com.

“In just two steps,” Branch observed, “customers can confirm that their barrels or personal effects are ready for delivery and process their application for access to the Port.”

There is also free Wi-Fi available in the Customer Information Booth so that customers may check and register from their smart phones or tablets.

Working in association with the Terminal Operations and Security Departments, Branch said that the online facility followed the same process as checking-in for an airline flight.

“We expect the change from manual transactions to the on-line facility to become the new normal at the Port” he added.

The provision of the online facility is another effort by Barbados Port Inc to facilitate its customers and provide improved service delivery.

Terminal Operations Manager Ian Stewart also appealed to customers collecting their cargo from the Personal Effects Shed 2 to avail themselves of this enhanced provision that would expedite delivery.

He advised them to read their documentation when they collected it from the agents, and follow the instructions which are clearly placed for their guidance.

Barbados Port Inc is handling around 100 customers daily during the off-season period, but during the peak periods around Crop Over and between December and January, numbers reach up to 300 daily.
