Accountants, IT specialists, general workers and engineers recently traded in their regular work tools in exchange for paint brushes, as they came together with a common goal of repainting and brightening up the classrooms for the children of St Mary’s Primary School.

A number of staff members from Goddard Enterprises’ head office and the various subsidiaries donned overalls, old clothes and headties, and grabbed rollers and brushes to repaint and brighten up ten classrooms at the school. The exercise was part of the activity associated with the adoption of the St Mary’s Primary School by Goddard Enterprises Ltd.

The project was initiated by divisional general manager, HR and community relations, Jennifer Bradshaw-Wood. Staff members embraced the exercise and were keen to pitch in for such a good cause.

The entire exercise was supervised and coordinated by Charles Harewood, a production supervisor at HIPAC Ltd. A 33-year veteran with HIPAC Ltd, Harewood looked after the job professionally each weekend, ensuring the “painters” were well equipped for the job at hand.

Heather Dottin, who works in the bottling plant of West Indies Rum Distillery (WIRD), said that when she heard about the project from her supervisor, she immediately jumped on board as she loved children and wanted to do something for them. She also pulled along a number of her colleagues from the WIRD bottling plant as she sought to ensure there were as many “painters” as possible on the job, most of whom stated they were doing it for the children.

There was much camaraderie and teamwork during the day as the work colleagues diligently brought cheer to the classrooms in anticipation of the children’s return to school on Monday, September 7.
