He was remanded to HMP Dodds after admitting to a Bridgetown court that he went to a popular beach “to snatch a handbag from anyone.”
The Gills Road, Roebuck Street, St. Michael resident pleaded guilty to loitering at Brownes Beach on Wednesday, giving cause to suspect that he was about to commit theft.
Police who were patrolling the beach saw Hazell, who was with another man at the time, acting suspiciously. They both ran when the lawmen approached them.
Police pursued them and Hazell was held at Dunlow Lane, Bay Street. When asked to give an account for being in the area, he said he was there “looking to snatch a handbag from anyone that would pass.”
Magistrate Cuffy-Sargeant ordered a presentencing report on Hazell, whom she remanded until October 16.
