Another group has come on board to support the recovery of storm-ravaged Dominica.

One Caribbean and the Dominica Children’s Relief Fund have teamed up to stage a fundraiser for children and their families who were affected by the storm in the nature isle.

They will be doing it in a big way by staging a concert which will come off on Sunday October 4 at Kensington Oval. The ‘One Caribbean’ concert will feature over 45 acts who have all offered their services free of cost.

The acts include Luciano, Maxi Priest, Tanya Stephens, Admiral Tibet from Jamaica, Destra Garcia and Denise Belfon from Trinidad and Tobago, Skinny Fabulous and Hypa 4000 from St Vincent, Teddyson John from St Lucia, along with many local acts including Alison Hinds, Edwin Yearwood, Rupee, Red Plastic Bag, Lil Rick, Peter Ram, Biggie Irie, Hypasounds, King Bubba, Leadpipe And Saddis, Kirk Brown, Iweb, Grynner and many more.

MP and entertainment entrepreneur Santia Bradshaw, who sits on the organizing committee, said after she heard about the tragedy in Dominica, she just knew they had to come together and do something to help.

“Prime Minister [Roosevelt Skerritt] said it will take over $700 million to rebuild Dominica so any little bit that we can do to help would go a long way. It’s always good when we can come together and put our differences aside and do something for a good cause. We have persons from all walks of life who have come together with one cause in mind,” Bradshaw said.

Besides Bradshaw, other committee members are Shawn Christie, Vic Fernandes, Ian Estwick, The Reverend Mark Gill and Junior Allsopp who is the chairman.

Allsopp said the committee was established to provide relief for those in need in Dominica. He revealed that they had already started to receive help from corporate Barbados.

“We have been able to supply bottled water and solar lights to the children of Dominica and we have also launched a food drive with supermarkets across the island,” Allsopp said.

“We have made some trips to Dominica to have those items delivered. We know that there are several children who have not yet begun the school term and would be in need of books and so on when the schools reopen.”

Allsopp said that an account had been set up at Scotiabank to receive donations and would remain open for a short while after the concert. The account number is 455392.

Early bird donations for the concert is $40.
