R&B songstress Keyshia Cole is excited about taking the stage in Barbados for the first time, come December 5. Cole will headline the Hennessy Artistry show in celebration of Hennessy’s 250th year.
Alison Hunte, a partner of FAS Entertainment, and the one who booked Cole for the event, told Bajan Vibes the organizers’ eyes had been on Keyshia. And the artiste “is definitely excited”.
“She has even asked to come in earlier so that she can enjoy the island before the event,” Hunte added. “So we are really looking forward to having her in Barbados and showing her our beautiful island.”
Hunte revealed that FAS Entertainment had been trying to book Cole for quite sometime now and was elated to finally have her on the show.
“We are very excited ourselves to be bringing her for this event to perform for Barbados. We have been working on trying to incorporate more international acts for the line-up for Hennessy Artistry.
“We began the process last year with Joe and its our intention to keep that going. We believe that the brand is strong already by blending all these acts,” Hunte said.
Cole is a Multi-Platinum-selling singer/songwriter and is well known for megahits like Heaven Sent, I Remember, Let It Go, I Should Have Cheated, Love and You Complete Me.
Cole began her career at 12 when she met MC Hammer and, later, rapper Tupac Shakur, releasing her debut album The Way It Is in 2005. With hits such as Never, I Changed My Mind and I Just Want It To Be Over, it went Platinum in just eight weeks, staying on the charts for over a year. The record producer and businesswoman released her second album Just Like You in 2007, which debuted and peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop Chart, and was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 50th Grammy Awards. That album also went Platinum.
The soulful singer went on to release three more albums: A Different Me in 2008, Calling All Hearts in 2010 and her latest Point Of No Return last year. Over the years, Cole has collaborated with many top artistes, including the likes of Diddy, Kanye West, Niki Minaj, R Kelly, T-Pain, Eve, Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim and Faith Evans.
Freddie Hill of FAS Entertainment said he believed it was a great decision bringing Cole and was confident she would give a great show.
“Hennessy Artistry is not just about reggae music; and we believe Keyshia Cole was a good addition this year. This is Hennessy’s 250th year; so we looked for an artiste that could complement it; and Keyshia was the name we pulled. We believe it was a good decision,” Hill said.
FAS has since revealed its second feature artiste in Anthony B, with many more big names to be added to the line-up.
