Christ Church East Central travelled to the north on Saturday and delivered a 6-0 thrashing on a hapless St Peter, as action in the David Thompson Memorial Constituency Councils Football Classic continued at Speightstown.
Jabarry Chandler got the ball literally rolling in the 5th minute and it virtually never stopped raining goals until the final whistle. Rico Baptiste scored in the 18th minute and Khalil Gill added to the mayhem 10 minutes later.
Noted local tennis player and an accomplished footballer Darian King would add to St Peter’s misery with a goal in the 30th minute to make it 4-0.
After the break St Peter managed to keep the Christ Church strikers from adding to their first-half tally. That was however until the 70th minute when King made it 5-0. And just before the end Gill put the icing on the cake with his second goal.
It wasn’t a particularly good night for northern teams as
St Lucy too were on the losing end. They were beaten 2-1 by St Michael South Central with goals coming from Rico Graham and Jadai Clarke in the 9th and 67th minutes respectively. Christopher Kellman had earlier tied the game with a goal in the 23rd minute but his strike was the only offensive success for St Lucy on the night.
In other action played at Deacons on Saturday, goals from Keion Atkins in the 18th and 75th minutes, as well as a 62nd own goal by Omar Archer saw St Michael North West defeating St James North 3-0.
A scheduled game between Christ Church and St Micheal North was not played.
On Friday at Parkinson, Christ Church West Central defeated St Michael South East thanks to a goal from Damian Perch in the 20th minute.
St Andrew and St Michael North East played to a 0-0 draw at the same venue.
Supporters of the hitherto powerful City of Bridgetown, and former champions, were stunned into silence when they were beaten 4-0 by St Michael South at Brereton, St Philip.
Scoring for the winners were Tristan “Fishy” Parris in the 8th minute, Rommel Bynoe in the 29th and 81st minutes and Arantes Lawrence in the 90th minute.
In another game played at the same venue Alvin Chapman’s 44th minute effort gave St Michael West Central a 1-0 victory over St Philip West.
Matches continue on Wednesday at Passage Road with St Michael North East against St Michael North West at 6 p.m. and St Michael West taking on St George North at 8 p.m.
