Well-known community worker Roosevelt “Ty” King is dead at the age of 60.
King, who was the Secretary General of the Barbados Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (BANGO), died yesterday afternoon at the offices of the organisation, the Garrison, St Michael after complaining of feeling unwell earlier in the day.
Speaking on behalf of the family this afternoon, actress Cicely Spencer- Cross said: “Ty complained of feeling unwell yesterday morning and paid a visit to his doctor. He returned to BANGO’s offices to send of an e-mail, but died.”
Meanwhile, longtime friend, Rodney Grant of the Pinelands Creative Workshop, said: “I am still trying to come to terms with Ty King’s death. However, I must say that he died doing what he enjoyed doing- community work.”
King was also a regular participant in utility rate hearings in the country.
He leaves to mourn his passing four children. (NC)
