A 22-year-old man who beat his former girlfriend on a City street just over a week ago, is likely to know his fate tomorrow after she attends court.
Anderson Ricardo Forde, of Lot 117 Lower Burney, St Michael, admitted assaulting the woman and occasioning her actual bodily harm on November 28.
He pleaded guilty today to the charge in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court and was granted $6 000 bail until tomorrow when he returns to court.
The court heard that on the date of the incident, the woman was standing along River Road, St Michael waiting for her husband, when someone came up from behind and grabbed her, throwing her to the ground.
According to evidence led by the prosecution, the assailant also began kicking and cuffing the complainant about the body. He then took away her cellular phone and threw it in a pool of water. When the woman finally recognised who it was, she slapped him in his chest and he left.
The complainant later told her husband about the incident and he advised her to report the matter to the police.
Today, Forde told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant that he committed the offence.
“He has to keep away from the complainant,” the magistrate told Forde’s surety, as she explained that this is the second matter Forde has relating to the same complainant.
