A ZR driver was today given one month in which to pay $1,000 in fines or spend one month in jail. Deon Ryan Omar Roach, 37, of Breedy’s Land, Silver Sands, Christ Church went before Magistrate Douglas Frederick earlier today and pleaded guilty to two counts on intentionally damaging property on Monday.
The District ‘A’ Magistrates Court heard from Station Sergeant Neville Watson that Dacian Griffith, the driver of a route taxi operating from the River Terminal, was waiting to load his vehicle when Roach drove in front of him and blocked him.
Roach then got out, went to that van – ZR223 – and grabbed Griffith’s shirt. He damaged the shirt and the visor on the driver’s window, which was the property of Harlon Darlington.
Roach, who was unrepresented, was fined $500 on each count, payable in one month. The alternative is three months in jail on each count, to run consecutively.
