Dominic Orlando Dear will be paying dearly after pleading guilty to five drug charges in the District ‘C’ Magistrates Court today.
The Cane Vale, Christ Church resident has four months in which to pay a $3,000 fine for possession of cannabis and $2 000 more within that same time-frame, for cultivating it.
Acting Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch convicted, reprimanded and discharged Dear for intending to supply the drug, as well as a second count of possession.
The 25-year-old was also reprimanded and discharged for trafficking the substance.
According to police prosecutor Sergeant Azel Skeete, Dear was in police custody yesterday in relation to another matter.
Officers had reason to execute a warrant at his home and that was when they found a haversack on his bedroom floor with a bottle, paper wrappings and Ziploc bags, all with marijuana inside. More cannabis was found inside a chest of drawers.
Further, police found marijuana plants which weighed 870 grammes which Dear was cultivating on property near his home.
If the fines are not paid by July 1, Dear will be imprisoned for six months.
