After an intense and exciting fourth day of the 2016 Barbados Cup, the teams qualifying for the finals in all of the age groups of the Barbados Football Cup have been determined.
Kick Start became the first to qualify for the finals of the under-11 with a comprehensive 4-0 defeat of newcomers West Coast united after leading 2-0 at halftime. Kick Start will now face perennial favourites Pinelands Football Academy who had a convincing 3-1 victory over the constantly improving Brittons Hill.
In the U-13 age group Pinelands continued their quest for a third straight championship by defeating the outstanding Cosmos 4-3 on penalty kicks after the scores were locked 0-0 at full time. This was truly the game of the tournament. Once again, 11-year-old schoolgirl Olianna Bishop played her part by converting one of the spot kicks. Pinelands will face off against Kick Start who blanked Parkinson 4-0 with all the goals being scored in the first half.
Parkinson and Cosmos will meet for the third place game at 9 a.m. while Pinelands and Kick Start will meet at 10 a.m. for the under- 11 finals and at 11 a.m. for the under-13 finals.
The under 15 finals will be a sort of family affair with Pro-Shottas A facing off against Pro-Shottas B. Pro Shottas A finally killed off giant slayers Parkinson 2-0 after a 1-0 halftime lead and Pro-Shottas B defeated Kick Start 2-1 to set up the inter-family showdown.
The under-11 and under-13 finals and third place games will all be played at Banks Brewery while the under-15 games will be held at BET. The presentation of all the prizes and awards will take place at Banks Brewery at 12.30 p.m.
